Mona Loring, President/Owner/Publicist
In the fast-paced, complex, and challenging world of public relations, it is unusual to find a publicist who can create innovate, cutting-edge, personalized public relations campaigns for a wide range of clients from across the world. President and owner of MLC PR, Mona Loring, has undeniably accomplished this feat, all while establishing her public relations firm as the most up and coming boutique entertainment firm to come out of Los Angeles in years. As an expert in talent, music, and literary public relations, Loring has brought her vast knowledge in copywriting, image consulting, artist development, and talent relations to the brink of perfection, all filtering into MLC PR. Loring has led her team at MLC PR to become synonymous with excellence and integrity, as her publicists are being recognized as trailblazers in the often impenetrable entertainment industry.
Loring attended the prestigious California Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo, where her professors saw her passion for the entertainment world, and her insight into the music and entertainment industries. They wanted to help further her knowledge as best possible, so they specifically designed Loring’s major to benefit her future career. In 2001, Loring received her Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on the entertainment industry, and a minor in Theatre Arts. While in college, Loring worked in production at FM ROCKS Inc. – the leading music video production company in the nation throughout the 1990s and early into the new millennium. It was here Loring learned the basics of the music industry, and helped lay the foundation for one of the passions that would soon drive her future business.
After graduation, Loring decided to pursue her education further and attended the Institute of Copywriting, in order to hone in on specialized copywriting and public relations writing techniques. As an inherent writer, Loring began freelance writing for a variety of lifestyle magazines and websites. Shortly after, she launched her own publicity firm, MLC PR, where she worked as a freelance copywriter for businesses across the nation. It wasn’t long before her writing caught the attention of a children’s book publisher who offered Loring a position as Public Relations Director at The Playdate Kids publishing house in Malibu, California. Heading up a literary publicity department was no simple feat, but Loring managed to do so with panache and fervor. After successfully launching a children’s book series for The Playdate Kids, Loring decided to refocus her efforts as a literary publicist, and venture back into her first love, the entertainment industry.
Loring branched out her business and started signing well-known entertainment clientele under MLC PR, all while establishing relationships with significant players in the media. During this process, several well-established publicists in the industry mentored Loring; including two individuals from corporate public relations firm Rogers & Cowan. Loring’s diverse experiences in PR ultimately led to word of mouth referrals, and her firm quickly started to blossom.
Now, with a staff of nine and counting, well-established clientele residing at MLC PR, and preceding titles of: public relations director, copywriter, entrepreneur and head of media relations for a number of charity organizations, Loring is one of the top PR executives in the entertainment industry under 30. She has worked closely with major TV networks such as FOX, ABC, ABC Family, MTV, and Lifetime, and has garnered a widespread contact list of individuals throughout both the music and entertainment industries. Her achievements with media include dealings and securing placements with The Tyra Banks Show, The Chelsea Lately Show, XM and Sirius Satellite Radio, Clear Channel Communications, CNN, US Weekly, People Magazine, TV Guide, Hollywood Reporter, Teen Magazine, and Life & Style Weekly, to name a few.
In 2008, Loring was interviewed by the world-renowned BBC news as an entertainment PR specialist for a UK news special, and was also featured as a public relations expert in the book “Creative Careers in Fashion” by Debbie Hartsog. Loring is a member of AICI- the Association of Image Consultants International, the Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks Chamber of Commerce, National Writers Union and the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society of Los Angeles. In addition, Loring was consecutively honored as Cambridge’s Who’s Who in Executives and Professionals in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
